2023 1:3 – So Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness. Hos. 14:8-9 – Ephraim shall say, What have I to do any more with idols? I have heard him, and observed him: I am like a green fir tree. From me is thy fruit found. Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? prudent, and he shall know them? for the ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein. I Cor. 1:19-21 – For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.] 2:17-18 – 17 And Solomon numbered all the strangers that were in the land of Israel, after the numbering wherewith David his father had numbered them; and they were found an hundred and fifty thousand and three thousand and six hundred. 18 And he set threescore and ten thousand of them to be bearers of burdens, and fourscore thousand to be hewers in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred overseers to set the people a work. [cf. I Chr. 22:2 – And David commanded to gather together the strangers that were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to hew wrought stones to build the house of God. Lev. 25:45-46 – Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession. And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession; they shall be your bondmen for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigour. Compare I Cor. 6:1,6-8 – Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints? ... But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers. Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded? Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren.] 3:1 – Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where the LORD appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite. [cf. Gen. 22:1-2,7-8 – And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. ... And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering? And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together. Acts 20:28 – Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Ps. 119:126-128 – It is time for thee, LORD, to work: for they have made void thy law. Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold. Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way. Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God. Heb. 5:12 – For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. I Pet. 4:10-11 – As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! corn shall make the young men cheerful, and new wine the maids. 2021 1:1 – And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly. [The LORD was Solomon's God at least in part (or parts) of his life. That is true of all of us who accept Him as Savior. There are times that He is our God, and times that other gods are our gods.] 2:12 – Huram said moreover, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son, endued with prudence and understanding, that might build an house for the LORD, and an house for his kingdom. [At least in writing, Huram the king of Tyre acknowledged the LORD, the God of Israel, as the Creator.] 3:4-5 – 4 And the porch that was in the front of the house, the length of it was according to the breadth of the house, twenty cubits, and the height was an hundred and twenty: and he overlaid it within with pure gold. 5 And the greater house he cieled with fir tree, which he overlaid with fine gold, and set thereon palm trees and chains. ["pure gold" (39 verses); "fine gold" (17 verses)] 3:6 – And he garnished the house with precious stones for beauty: and the gold was gold of Parvaim. [This is the only place in the Bible where we find gold of Parvaim. Compare "gold ... Ophir" (I Kings 9:28; 10:11; 22:48; I Chr. 29:4; II Chr. 8:18; 9:10; Job 22:24; 28:16; Ps. 45:9; Is. 13:12).] 3:13 – The wings of these cherubims spread themselves forth twenty cubits: and they stood on their feet, and their faces were inward. [cf. Ex. 25:20 – And the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall look one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be.]

The length by cubits after the first measure was threescore cubits, and the breadth twenty cubits. [There were two lengths of cubits, one an hand breadth longer than the other (Ezek. 40:5; 43:13). Some commentators explain that the longer one was the first one, and was used in Moses' time, and that the shorter one was used in Babylon. The Israelites who returned from the captivity continued to use the cubit of Babylon. Since the Chronicles were written after the captivity in Babylon, it had to be explained that the cubit used in the time of Solomon was the original cubit – the longer one.] 3:5 – And the greater house he cieled with fir tree, which he overlaid with fine gold, and set thereon palm trees and chains. [the holy place, which was larger than the most holy house (vv. 3,8)] 3:10 – And in the most holy house he made two cherubims of image work, and overlaid them with gold. [Albert Barnes comments that the word in the margin is "moveable work." John Wesley comments that "moveable work" means they were not fastened to the mercy seat, as were the ones made in Moses' time. Probably the word image is used to mean a statue standing independently of anything else.]
