2023 7:2 – That I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the palace, charge over Jerusalem: for he was a faithful man, and feared God above many. [cf. I Tim. 6:13-16 – I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. 2019 7:1 – the porters and the singers and the Levites [apparently this is a more specific application of the term Levites, since the porters and the singers were Levites (cf. also v. 73, and 8:7 – and the Levites, after some of the Levites are listed separately (see Neh. 7:43; 9:5; 11:8))] 7:8-64 – [children is always used in vv. 2-25, apparently always applying to the descendants of people; men is always used in vv. 26-33, apparently always applying to the inhabitants of towns/cities; children is again used in vv. 34-38, this time apparently applying at least some of the time to the inhabitants of towns/cities (see esp. vv. 37-38); children is always used throughout the remainder of the verses, applying again to the descendants of people.
