[cf. I Chr. 4:9-10 – And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow. And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.] 18:24 – Therefore hath the LORD recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight. [cf. Prov. 15:3 – The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.] 18:27 – For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks. [cf. Ps. 34:19 – Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.] 18:27 – For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks. [cf. Prov. 6:16-19 – These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.] 18:28 – For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness. [cf. v. 30 – As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him. I John 3:1-3 – Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.] 18:34 – He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms. [cf. II Sam. 22:35 – He teacheth my hands to war; so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms. Ps. 144:1-2 – Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight: My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me. Judg. 3:1-4 – Now these are the nations which the LORD left, to prove Israel by them, even as many of Israel as had not known all the wars of Canaan; Only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at the least such as before knew nothing thereof; Namely, five lords of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and the Sidonians, and the Hivites that dwelt in mount Lebanon, from mount Baal-hermon unto the entering in of Hamath. And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of the LORD, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses. Eph. 6:10-13 – Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.] 18:34 – He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms. [cf. Ps. 37:14-15 – The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows. And he took unto him bow and arrows. And he said to the king of Israel, Put thine hand upon the bow. And he put his hand upon it: and Elisha put his hands upon the king's hands. And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the LORD'S deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed them. And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed. II Thess. 3:13 – But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing. Gal. 6:9-10 – And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. [cf. Ps. 2 – Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure. Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.] 18:45 – The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places. [cf. [compare Matt. 5:14-16 – Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. [cf. Is. 28:9-13 – Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken. Matt. 6:11 – Give us this day our daily bread. Luke 11:3 – Give us day by day our daily bread.] 19:7 – The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. [cf. II Pet. 1:19-21 – We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. Num. 14:41-45 – And Moses said, Wherefore now do ye transgress the commandment of the LORD? but it shall not prosper. Go not up, for the LORD is not among you; that ye be not smitten before your enemies. For the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sword: because ye are turned away from the LORD, therefore the LORD will not be with you. But they presumed to go up unto the hill top: nevertheless the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and Moses, departed not out of the camp. Then the Amalekites came down, and the Canaanites which dwelt in that hill, and smote them, and discomfited them, even unto Hormah. II Pet. 2:9-10 – The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. [cf. Rom. 6:12-16 – Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?] 19:13 – Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. [compare I Chr. 10:13-14 – So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, even against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to inquire of it; And inquired not of the LORD: therefore he slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse. I John 5:16 – If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. [cf. I John 5:14-15 – And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.] 20:7 – Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. [cf. Ps. 15 – LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour. In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not. He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.] 21:9 – Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the LORD shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them. [cf. Rev. 20:11-15 – And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.] 21:12 – Therefore shalt thou make them turn their back, when thou shalt make ready thine arrows upon thy strings against the face of them. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.] 22:10 – I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly. [cf. Philip. 3:1-8 – Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe. Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision. For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ; Rev. 22:14-15 – Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.] 22:16 – For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. [cf. John 20:27-29 – Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.] 22:17 – I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me. [cf. Gen. 15:5 – And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. Ps. 48:12 – Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof. Ps. 56:8 – Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book? Ex. 5:8 – And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God. Ex. 5:18 – Go therefore now, and work; for there shall no straw be given you, yet shall ye deliver the tale of bricks. I Sam. 18:27 – Wherefore David arose and went, he and his men, and slew of the Philistines two hundred men; and David brought their foreskins, and they gave them in full tale to the king, that he might be the king's son in law. And Saul gave him Michal his daughter to wife. I Chr. 9:28 – And certain of them had the charge of the ministering vessels, that they should bring them in and out by tale. Ps. 90:9-12 – For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told. The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath. So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.] 22:18 – They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture. [cf. Matt. 27:35 – And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.] 22:20 – Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog. [cf. v. 16 – For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.] 22:22 – I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee. [cf. Ps. 138:2 – I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. II Tim. 4:2-4 – Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.]
2022 18:12 – At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire. ["hail* ... fire" (Ex. 9:23,24; Ps. 18:12,13; 105:32; 148:8; Is. 30:30; Ezek. 38:22; Rev. 8:7)] 18:16 – He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters. [cf. II Sam. 22:17 – He sent from above, he took me; he drew me out of many waters; Ex. 2:10 – And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water. Jonah 2:5-6 – The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head. I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.] 18:20 – The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me. [cf. v. 24 – Therefore hath the LORD recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight. II Sam. 22:21 – The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness: according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me. Job 17:9 – The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger. Ps. 24:3-4 – Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. James 4:8 – Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.] 18:21 – For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God. [cf. II Sam. 22:22 – For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God. Prov. 8:32 – Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways. CONTRAST Mal. 2:8-9 – But ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the LORD of hosts. Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as ye have not kept my ways, but have been partial in the law. Prov. 19:16 – He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die. COMPARE Judg. 2:21-22 – I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations which Joshua left when he died: That through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the LORD to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not. Job 23:11 – My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined. Ps. 37:34 – Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it. Prov. 16:17 – The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.] 18:23 – I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity. [compare Heb. 12:1-2 – Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hos. 7:2 – And they consider not in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness: now their own doings have beset them about; they are before my face.] 19:1-5 – 1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. 2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. 4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, 5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. [cf. Rom. 1:20 – For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse] 20:1 – The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee [cf. v. 5 – We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfil all thy petitions. v. 7 – Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. "name ... Jesus" (John 20:31; Acts 2:38; 3:6; 4:10,18,30; 5:40; 8:12,16; 9:27,29; 15:26; 16:18; 19:5,13,17; 21:13; 26:9; I Cor. 1:2,10; 5:4; 6:11; Eph. 5:20; Philip. 2:10; Col. 3:17; II Thess. 1:12; 3:6; I John 3:23)] 20:1,4 – The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee; ... Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel. [cf. Ps. 37:4 – Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.]
21:2 – Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah. [cf. Ps. 37:4 – Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.] 21:4 – He asked life of thee, and thou gavest it him, even length of days for ever and ever. [cf. John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. I John 5:11-13 – And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.] 21:8 – Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies: thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee. [cf. Num. 32:23 – But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.] 22:2-3 – 2 O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent. 3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. [cf. Job 1:14-21 – And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them: And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house: And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. Job 2:7-10 – So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown. And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat down among the ashes. Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die. But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.] 22:27 – All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee. [cf. Rev. 7:9-10 – After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.]
2021 18:20 – The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me. ["clean* ... hands" (II Sam. 22:21; Job 9:29-31; 17:9; Ps. 18:20,24; 24:3-4; 73:13; James 4:8-10)] 18:25-27 – 25 With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright; 26 With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward. 27 For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks. [Compare I Cor. 9:19-22 – For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.] 18:30 – As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him. [cf. Ps. 12:6 – The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.] 18:35 – Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great. 19:6 – His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof. [The singular end refers to the east, where the sun rises. John Wesley suggests that the plural ends refers to the west and then back to the east again, completing the circuit.] 19:9 – The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. [cf. Rev. 16:7 – And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments. Rev. 19:2 – For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.] 19:12 – Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults. [The his refers not to God, but to the Who. Cf. Job 6:24 – Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred. Rom. 7:15,19 – For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. ... For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.] 20:4 – Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel. [cf. Prov. 4:23 – Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.] 21:11 – For they intended evil against thee: they imagined a mischievous device, which they are not able to perform. [cf. Ps. 2:1-5 – Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.] 22:24 – For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard. [cf. Ex. 3:7-8 – And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites. Ex. 22:22-24 – Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child. If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry; And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless. James 5:4 – Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.]
2020 18:9 – He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet. 18:35 – Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great. 18:49 – Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name. 19:13 – Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. 20:1 – The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee; 20:6 – Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand. 20:7 – Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
2019 18:4 – the floods of ungodly men made me afraid. [cf. Rev. 12:15-16 – the floods that they pour forth] 18:6 – he heard my voice out of his temple [in heaven, before Solomon built the temple on earth] 18:35 – thy gentleness hath made me great. 20:4 – Grant thee according to thine own heart 22:9 – thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts. 22:15 – my tongue cleaveth to my jaws ["tongue* ... cleav*" (Job 29:10; Ps. 22:15; 137:6; Lam. 4:4; Ezek. 3:26); Ps. 22:15 is the only place the tongue cleaves to the jaws; in all the others it cleaves to the roof of the mouth.]
